Gilgit Baltistan
Where Five Mountain Ranges Converge
About Gilgit Baltistan
Gilgit Baltistan is a region of superlatives. It is where five of the world's mightiest mountain ranges converge: the Karakoram, Himalayas, Hindu Kush, Pamir, and Kunlun. This territory is home to three of the world's 14 peaks over 8,000 meters, including K2, the second tallest mountain on Earth. The ancient Karakoram Highway, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World, connects Pakistan to China through this incredible landscape. Beyond the mountains, Gilgit Baltistan offers vibrant cultural diversity with distinct communities including Shina, Balti, Burushaski, and Wakhi speaking people, each with their own traditions, music, and cuisine.
